Yarlet are a small school from near Stafford but had a very decent team. Their captain made a 100 in the third game of the tournament. We bowled 16 wides which counted 2 each but no extra ball. We nearly made a mess of the chase with Ed and Will both out when we were comfortably ahead of the rate. A nervous last couple of overs ! A good win though as Yarlet would win their other two games against Winterfold and Shrewsbury High.
Only 3 boundaries were managed against Packwood as Will and Ed contrived to get themselves out early. 86 was not likely to be enough with one quite short boundary and Packwood comfortably eased through. Will C took a great catch in the deep to dismiss their star batsman but a slightly meek effort against a good side who went on to win the final against St.John’s scoring 140 in the process.
A third place game against Prestfelde and a chance to give everyone a go. Timon opened and after a slow start scored 26 with some lovely shots. Will C smacked the tame bowling to all parts and was retired once he made 50 to give others a go. Alex responded with a couple of well hit boundaries. 134 was a good total. Other bowlers were used and Ed enjoyed 4 overs free from keeping duties taking 3 wickets. Hugo and Fergus had a good bowl and Prestfelde scored 101 with one player making a good 50.
