| For the first time this term, we won the toss so our Captain for the match, Katie, decided that we should field first. Playing 30 good balls in the first innings, we fielded tightly and efficiently, especially between Harriet in back stop and Olivia S. on 1st post where they managed to get 3 out. Olivia H. also caught a great hit in deep field.
We went into bat with Hereford having scored 4 rounders. Several half rounders were scored, however it was Olivia S. and Annie that actually scored a rounder a piece, resulting in our team scoring 5, by half time.
Hereford took advantage in our lapse of concentration going into the 2nd innings. Our fielding certainly lacked polish compared with previous games, allowing Hereford to score a further 6 rounders. So, Abberley were reminded that they needed to get their act together if they were going to have any chance of winning the match and focus on the regular ‘donkey drops’ that were being bowled to them. Some of our regular hitters, just could not focus on the descending ball, however Katja had a great innings scoring 2 rounders and so did Olivia and Annie scoring 2 ½ rounders a piece. This resulted in Abberley Hall pulling enough out the bag to win 15 v 10.
The player of the match on this occasion was Olivia S.
