| New captain Jack W's team was put in to bat by Moor Park and got off to a flyer with Lucien and Angus adding 22 runs without the loss of a wicket, some fine boundaries from Lucien in particular. William B continued to take the attack to the visitors with a 6 and two further boundaries Freddie, inspired by the battle against his old peer group at Moor Park, displayed some aggressive running between the wickets and good timing of the ball, striking four further boundaries. Josh P and Josh H-P together added 15 and the icing was put on the cake of the Abberley innings by a fine partnership of 29 by Jack and Jake.
285 was a decent total to defend, but we didn't half make life difficult for ourselves with some wild bowling, giving away 78 runs in no balls or wides! At the half way make Moor Park were right on target but some tight bowling by Angus (second over), Lucien, Jack and Jake allowed us a small margin for error at the end.
A good performance overall, but a willingness to play good balls sensibly and a little more discipline with the ball would go a long way towards further victories.
Champagne moment? Will B's catch at deep mid-wicket, run back and taking the catch over his right shoulder, making a very difficult catch look very easy. Well done Will B. |
