Girls Cricket - Wednesday 14th May

U13 Abberley 196, Packwood 281 - Lost

We were all nervous and excited before Abberley Hall's first ever Girls' Cricket Match and unfortunately the home team were unable to recover form the tension once the game started. Captain Burtie won the toss and elected to field first. Packwood's openers scored an impressive partnership of 32 runs in 4 overs and were easily the best batters of the team. Abberley fielded very well including a great boundry save by Kate. Packwood's score was unfortunatley added to by several wide and no-balls from Abberley's inexperienced bowlers. However, Jenny bowled three overs with the statistics of 12 for 2, Burtie also bowled 3 overs 4 for 1 and Gabrielle bowled two overs 5 for 1. Abberley were very timid when they came into bat and have certainly been more impressive in practices. The best partnership was between Jenny and Bethany who scored 14 and 8 runs respectively and ran excellently with great calling and backing up. Holly scored two fours and one almighty six and was just warming up as the innings came to an end. It was a thoroughly enjoyable match and will have given the girls lots of confidence for next week when they face St. Richards! Player of the Match = Jenny!
