U13 Abberley 29.5 - Beaudesert 24.5

With six girls from the 'A' team playing tennis and several U13s and U12s singing in the choir at a wedding we had the opportunity for some different girls to play in the rounders match including 2 U11s. Abberley lost the toss and were put into bat first. Apart from 1 run out and an unlucky catch off the very first ball the girls had a good innings scoring 19 1/2 rounders. 8 of which were scored by Jenny who also earned 2 mars bars for reaching the perimeter wall twice with her hits! As it was the 1st match of the season there was some sloppy fielding from both teams. However Abberley managed to keep Beaudesert at bay with stumpings from Alison and Kate and four more as a result of the solid bowler-backstop-first post triangle; Charlotte-Jenny -&Gabrielle. The half time score was 19 1/2 to 12.

In the second innings Abberley only scored 10 rounders, but it was enough to extend a dominant lead. Abberley went on to get all of Beaudesert out for 12 1/2 rounders with good fielding from U12s Pippa and Rosalind and U11 Emma, and an impresive catch from Jenny at backstop - player of the match. The final score was 29 1/2 - 24 1/2!

All of the girls played well and show good potential for the rest of the season. Especially if they can tighten up their fielding.
