1st XI v Monmouth
78 for 8 , Abberley 80 for 3- Won

The phrase goes better late than never. That certainly applies to the 1st XI who after a poor season of results have finally clicked securing a third win in 6 days yesterday. The opposition were Monmouth who beat us last year and were a decent side. However they were restricted to 78-8 in 25 overs. The wickets were again shared but Max bowled with real guile and Hugo ran out their threatening no.3 with a splendid direct hit.

Max was out early and Hugo came in to play with panache. Sadly he was out for 15 but a delightful cameo it was. Rory blasted a quickfire 40 not out and we had reached our target in a mere 13 overs. An excellent win.

Sadly we have only one game remaining and the forecast is not promising ,but playing like this we could give anyone a game. There was energy and purpose in the field and the running between the wickets was positively cheeky. Finally this team is playing to its potential.

Abberley 2nd XI v Monmouth (Away)
Abberley 70 all out, Monmouth 72 for 2 - Llost by 8 wickets

'2nd.XI battle against superior Monmouth'

The team travelled through torrential rain but were welcomed by a good looking pitch and warm greetings from our hosts Monmouth. The rain held off for the match and thus we played a game of cricket for the first time this month! We therefore started cautiously. The bowling was tight but Jack.S batted well for his 14 runs. Unfortunately wickets tumbled and without the efforts of Robbie.K our total would have been paltry. He was well supported by Miles.B. With only 70 on the board it did not take long for the Monmouth batters to reach our total.Matteh S. (on lone from the 1st.XI) bowled superbly and Nick.B also bowled well. The fielding was good but the Monmouth number 3 was an excellent player and the match was over with a well hit cover drive. Nevertheless we played a match and enjoyed our visit.
Well played everyone, especially Corny.C who took over the wicket keeping responsibilities .
