At last it seemed as if summer had arrived as the June sun allowed us to demonstrate our rounders skills once again. After a tedious period of cancelled fixtures due to wet, miserable weather, the girls were excited and well motivated for today's match. Abberley won the toss and chose to field first which they did with skill and efficiency. Charlotte, Immy and Olivia got seven of the opposition out using their effective bowler, backstop, first post triangle. They kept RGS down to just 6 rounders in their first innings and had a real change to make a lead. Unfortunatley when it was Abberley's turn to bat things did not go as planned and some of our big hitters made early and unnecessary exits.
At half time it was 6 - 6; anybody's game. However, RGS came back strong and Abberley lost confidence in their fielding and RGS scored 8 1/2 rounders. The pressure was on. In their second innings batting, Charlotte, Immy, Natalia, Teya and Rosalind all tried hard to win the match and sored rounders. However they ended up just one rounder short of a draw with 7 1/2. A grand effort from all of the girls - well done!
