Rounders Review - Wednesday 2nd May

U13 (away) Abberley 11 Malvern Prep 11

U12 (away) Abberley 13.5 Malvern Prep 5

Abberley won the toss and elected to field. We quickly got into our stride, with the triangle of Holly (bowler), Jenny (backstop) and Annie (1st post) getting several girls out. Bethany at 3rd post got two out and this was a result of excellent fielding by the whole team. Malvern were all out for 2.5. After a slow batting start from the team, Natasha got us off the mark with a fantastic rounder and she continued to rattle up the rounders throughout the whole game. We were all out for 6.5, but the last stand by Julia, Annie, Natasha and Gaby scored 4 of those. The second half of the game saw Malvern struggle to score, and Abberley continued to field well with the captain, Holly, taking two great running catches as bowler. Malvern scored another 2.5, giving them a total of 5. We chose to bat again to get the practice in, and the girls really got stuck in particularly Olivia, Holly and Natasha.
Final score was 13.5 to Abberley and 5 to Malvern Prep.
A brilliant start to the season, and a great team performance.

U11B Abberley 29 Malvern Prep13.5

VICTORY 29-13.5!!!

A superb start to the season. We chose to field first and thanks to some excellent bowling from Emma along with all round tight fielding, Malvern were all out for 5 rounders after just 21 balls. Olivia stumped three out at first, Alison had one at second, two for Charlotte at third and Holly one at fourth. Immy stumped the box for the remaining two batters. Georgie, Kitty and Connie remembered their long barriers in their deep fielding positions and were kept busy by some strong Malvern hitters.
In our first batting innings we scored 13.5 rounders losing only one player in 30 good balls.

Malvern came back strong in their second innings to score 8.5 rounders losing no batters. In this innings we had a change around of positions; Charlotte also bowled very well and Rosalind fielded well at second post. Tertia played well out deep. It gave all the girls an opportunity to play away from their normal position. Abberley went on to a remarkable second batting innings scoring 15.5 rounders in 30 good balls, losing only one player on the last ball. Alison and Tertia both scored three rounders off three hits. Immy was the top scorer with five rounders from seven balls.

A great confidence booster! Bromsgrove here we come!
