U10 v RGS 2 - 1

This was a hard fought match for the U10 squad right from the start. RGS marked our players like glue and had perfected the art of interception well.

We had a delayed start due to heavy rainfall. The players took a while to get going as a result of being completely drenched! Tabitha, our Captain for today, took control in the centre and worked hard marking her opponent. However Elise and Abbie were finding it hard to get free to have shots at goal. Zara worked hard in defence with Lily, however RGS did manage to score.

In the 2nd quarter we changed a few players around. Jamie played well in GA now working with Elise who was GS. Georgia made some good moves on the right now supported by Emily as WD. The 2 Katies worked well in defence and blocked quite a few attacks. Although RGS were definitely dominating play due to Abberleys inconsistent marking and lack of interception, we were just about holding our own.

In the second half, the team was changed yet again to the players which played together to gain victory during the week. This strengthened their game considerably resulting in a goal from Elise, with plenty of other attempts.

So into the last quarter, it was clear Abberley could obtain victory with continued assertiveness. The team remained the same except Katie replaced Zara as GK. Elise managed to score another goal. New to the school and a new addition to the U10 squad, Holly, played exceptionally well in this quarter having gained confidence in previous games.

This certainly was not Abberley’s best effort, however yet again lessons were learnt and they did win! Player of the match was Jamie.

U9 v RGS 6 - 0

After a delay due to torrential rain, the girls got off to a fantastic start with Georgie scoring within the first minute!  They capitalised on that and ended the first quarter 5 - 0.  RGS fought well and kept the scoreline the same for the second quarter.  There was some outstanding defending from Amelia and Eva!  With Alina working well as Centre and moving all over the court.  The attack of Emily, Georgie and Hattie (G) worked the ball fluently into the D.  Our defence of Amelia, Harriet (W) and Eva kept RGS from having too many attempts on goal.  The subs of Kitty and Amy worked well with both girls contributing to the result. 6 - 0 to Abberley!

Player of the match : Amelia C
