“Is this the 1st XI?” someone asked. “The 3rds, actually”, came my response. “Good grief, so there are two teams better than this?!” They scurried off looking suitably concerned…
The 'Heroes' put on an impressive display of football against a notoriously strong footballing side. They kept their cool, communicated and worked together as a team to create plenty of opportunities. As a result, the RGS defence were dismantled in a clinical fashion by our forwards and midfield with kick-backs, nutmegs, dummies and ‘Cruyff Turns’ aplenty to keep the crowd happy.
On the odd occasion that RGS were lucky enough to make it into the Abberley half, our defensive team moved in with a vengeance, effectively despatching nearly every RGS opportunity with a gentlemanly contempt. They did manage to have a couple of shots at goal but they had to get past Alex first, who made an impressive debut in goal with some solid saves.
All in all a resounding win as a result of a great team effort: well done all. Man of the Match: R; Ronaldo moments: too many to mention.
