For most of our U9 players this was their first ever netball match. Lack of training due to the recent abundance of snow and the absence of some of our regular players due to injury, was in itself going to create quite a challenge for our team.

The first quarter was rather tentative as the team started to put their skills into practice. St Richards scored the first goal, however there was some good feeding through by Lilly in GD through to Georgie W in the Centre and then to Olivia (GA), who managed to score a goal.

In the second quarter, the team gained confidence and started to be more assertive. And although St Richards were the first to score again, Zara utilised her energies brilliantly as Goal Keeper intercepting well. Amelia as Wing Defence allied well with Zara and pushed the ball forward brilliantly using Lilly now playing Center, and was certainly dominating the middle of the court. Georgie now in GD was performing some brilliant game play with Lilly, feeding the ball strongly to Elise in WA, who then was able to assist Olivia and Violet (GS). Violet seemed to have a somewhat individual technique at scoring, but still managed to score 2 goals!

Some rapid shooting coaching by Mrs Beer at half time proved to be very rewarding. Violet and Olivia having managed to adjust her technique in 5 minutes managed to score 5 and 2 more goals respectively. The team was really beginning to gain a rhythm and show great promise.

For the last quarter, Georgia H came back into play as WD, whilst Amelia played as GK, enabling Zara to put her vocal cords to good use on the side lines. Elise moved to GA and Olivia changed to WA. This resulted in Violet scoring 2 mores goals and Elise scoring her first goal.

This was a fabulous start. The team really worked hard, listened and utilised their skills. The player of the match was Lilly.
