We just managed to beat the approaching weather front this year although the final race was run in a light flurry of snow. It was a credit to all the runners for the effort they put in on this gruelling course. Unfortunately a few schools had to withdraw at the last minute through illness but we still had thirty three teams competing
Cheam continued their success at this event with wins in both girls’ races. Pilgrims’ coached by former Abberley Hall master and the person responsible for the Abberley Relays, Geoffrey Hammond, won the U11 boys’ race again. Abberley were victorious in the U13 boys’ race with a close win over Cheam. Abberley were second in all of the other races and, individually, Katja C-S, was the fastest U11 girl, Immogen M was the second fastest U13 girl and Freddie H was the third fastest U13 boy. Georgie W was our fourth fastest U11 girl despite still being in the pre-prep and having run yesterday at the Hallfield U9 competition where she was third fastest girl.
The support and help given by the rest of the school was a credit to everyone, and there were numerous generous comments made form visiting parents and staff.
