Swimming Gala - Monday 10th March

Abberley 88pts - Holy Trinity 89pts

This was a very close gala from the outset. The junior swimmers from Holy Trinity dominated their events and our seniors had the upper hand in their races. All of our juniors swam well, but the 3 or 4 ‘club’ swimmers from Holy Trinity were just too good. The performances from George and Morgan were excellent given that they stepped in at short notice due to illness absence of regular swimmers. Our seniors again were very accomplished in both the relays and individual events.

The final event of the gala was a single cannon relay with 20 swimmers taking part from each team. We swam like a team possessed, our juniors managed to stay level with the Holy Trinity swimmers (no mean feat given the results in earlier races) and then our senior swimmers increased the lead length by length until the final swimmer entered the water with a lead in excess of 25m and duly won the race. What a fantastically exciting race to finish the gala!

Congratulations to all that took part, you all swam superbly.
