1st XI vRGS 1 - 4
This is a harsh scoreline in a game which ebbed and flowed. There were chances at both ends, but defensive frailties cost us dearly today. RGS took an early lead when 3 players queued up unmarked in our penalty area. We bounced back and equalised when MAx C-S latched on to a through ball from Matt S to beat the keeper. From then on RGS were on the rack as we pushed forward. However, as we failed to score a second, they broke away to retake the lead on the stroke of half-time.
After the break we conceded a needless third which temporarily knocked the stuffing out of us. The boys regrouped and pushed forward again, creating more chances. Palmer had an excellent header on target from a free kick. Near the end they scored a deflected fourth goal after we needlessly gave away possession.
The opposition were good, but we battled well.
2nd XI vRGS 1 - 2
3rd XI vRGS 2 - 1
The barcodes recorded a well earnt second win today in what was a very entertaining end to end game. The teams were perfectly match and on fairly slippery grass, on top of a harder frozen, sub surface the ball and players were always liable to scoot about the place. RGS struck first with a speculative long range shot that squirted under our replacement keepers legs, Will .M. However after half time the boys to their credit upped the pace and really looked like they wanted the victory. With good linkage from Nick.B. and Rohin, Charlie.G., smashed one home shortly after half time. This was followed almost immediately by some superb play from all the midfield and strikers with the captain, Oscar.S., finishing brilliantly. However RGS had many shots on target and were very dogged and determined. We managed to hold on due to some hilarious goal keeping and an extremely efficient back four commanded superbly by Will A-J. A thoroughly well earned victory. Man of the Match: Oscar S.
