1st XV Rugby - Friday 7th December

1st XV v S. Anselems 12-7

Despite a tough week including a late theatre trip, an overnight stay at Cheam school followed by the Wellington College tournament, and a late trip to the Varsity match at Twickenham, the team were certainly fired up for their penultimate game of the season. We played on the lower field and the strong wind blew across the pitch. We have been unfortunate this season in not having the centre partnership of Matt S and F Burke playing together and at their best for many of the games but today they proved a potent force in both attack and defence. With Max C-S orchestrating things from Fly half the pair were given a variety of attacking ploys which they executed tirelessly. Alex M provided a good supply of ball and Olliver P produced some incisive runs from wing and later full back. Max C-S again produced a great display of complete fly half play. He produced a number of is trade mark scything tackles, and kicked ran and distributed with precision and vision.

The forwards were abrasive and won much ball. Jack S used his strength and power to good effect. The scrum was solid and Will P again continued his remarkable transformation into a 1st XV flanker.

There is a question as to the number of games the boys have played recently but on this display their efforts are certainly not wavering.
