1st XV v Beaudesert (away) 12-15

A much changed side travelled to the usual windy conditions at Beaudesert. We played into the wind in the first half and were 5-5 at half time although, with Francis B hobbling and the pack being out rucked we were being well marshalled by the opposition defence. Our lack of power up front proved costly as we were turned over at the break down and lacked penetration in the backs. Missed tackles cost us dearly although a last gasp effort nearly won the match only for an uncharacteristic careless error to rob us of the opportunity to score.

This was a disappointing performance despite being under strength. We hope to get everyone fit and healthy in time for the tough run of fixtures ahead.

3rd XV v Beaudesert (away) 0-56

Struggled to compete with a team that had greater speed in all aspects of the game. Even though it was a high score our tackling throughout the team has improved markedly with Jorge, Ignacio and Peter leading the way.

Colts A v Beaudesert 7-14

In a spirited game our opponents held the edge throughout the game and two lapses by our defence were punished with tries. Although we did score to level matters at one try all in the first half the second try was enough for Beaudesert to take the honours.

Colts B v Beaudesert 17-10

Colts B recorded their 3rd win on the bounce, in perhaps their hardest fought and entertaining game of the season so far. Beaudesert brought a highly competant and very determined side who ran us all the way. Poor tackling resulted in us giving away 2 tries and we were fortunate that they missed their conversions otherwise the result would have been way too close for comfort! After early pressure, Aidan, having an inspired game, burrowed his way over from a penalty move 5 metres out. Beaudesert hit us immediately, and not for the first time this season the scores were level at half time. After the break beaudesert scored and the pressure was all back on Abberley. This was where Abberley really fought hard and came back magnificently. After some fiercesome rucking and heavy hits in the loose, Ed.H., burrowed and furrowed and managed to touch down. The try was then converted by Robbie. Towards the end, the forwards really got up a head of steam and there was some beautiful rucking and passing. Eventually Morgan powered his way over. The forwards yet again worked magnificently together and the team as a whole is really fighting hard for each other. There were good runs in the backs from, Jake and Jack.S., and some dangerous running from Chris .L. Credit should also go to Beaudesert for really putting us through our paces and making the match so entertaining. Many thanks again to all the parents who were very encouraging, and spurred on the boys. I know that they very much appreciate your support.

Colts C v Beaudesert 15-32

'Brave comeback boosts Colts C moral!'

With the Director of Colts C Rugby absent it was left to the Assistant Coach Mr L to cajole, inspire, motivate and generally organise Colts C for this traditionally tough fixture. During the week we had concentrated on fitness, tackling and passing. A fierce regime of circuits was introduced which had the staff panting and the boys puffing. Tackling games were used to improve technique and build confidence. Passing routines also helped. Not having had a fixture recently meant that the boys were keen We knew we would have to be mentally tough and it showed in the match. Trailing at half-time the boys put in a super effort to score two tries in the second half and claw themselves back into the match. Mr L. gave me a blow by blow account and he praised the way the team played.

Well done Colts C! We are one the road on Wednesday to Warwick so let's have another grandstand performance!
