U13A vSt Richards (the re-match) 5-2



It had been a close game the last time we played St. Richards and the girls were conscious of the loss of Gabby to injury and of Olivia and Alison to the chalet. However, Abberley started the match positively and set a fast pace. Once again it was great to see the girls with the confidence to take the ball forward and pass around the St Richards defence. it was captain jenny who opened the scoring when she collected the ball and dribbled it three quaters of the length of the picth weaving around the defenders and finished with a tremendous strike from the top of the circle into the corner of the goal. The next goal came form a moment of great team play between the midfield and forwards. Natasha took her time and looked up in the circle to find Charlotte who pushed the ball passed the goalie to score. St Richards played very well and sere strong in midfield but Annie, Olivia and Holly worked hard to retrieve the ball and feed it back up to our attackers. The final score was 5 - 2, with some great saves from Elsie and great goals from Immy and Jenny. What a fast game - the girls just need to continue to react quickly while staying calm in defence.

U11B vBluecoat 5-1

Blue Coat started with the first push back but this did not affect the Abberley girls. They had main posession of the ball and at half time we were 2-0 up on them. After half time, it was our first push back and the Blue Coat came back with a lot of defence but this did not affect the Abberley girls.....it just made them more determined. Melissa and Miranda were doing some very good defending but unfortunately one of the Blue Coat attackers managed to get through and score. Katja scored 3 more goals in the second half which meant the final score was 5 -1 to Abberley A very good game girls.
