U13A vSt Richards 3-2
the under 13s have developed good attacking skills recently due to more 7-a-side games and made a very positive start to their match on Saturday. it was great to see the girls run forward together and supporting each other as they took the ball up the pitch. this meant that they could pass the ball around the St Richards defence and avoid going through any tackles. Abberley took an early lead with a great follow up from immy - her second goal in as many matches. Olivia and Immy made some great attacking moves with strong support from Gabby and Jenny. After a long period of attacking play Abberley scored again when Gabby tucked in a cross from Immy into the left corner of the goal. The match was definatley not one sided. Annie, Alison and Rosalind had to work especially hard in defence. St Richards managed to get a goal back just before half time with a speedy counter attack. Unfortunatly Abberley weren't all quick enough to get back down the pitch and mark their players. In the second half Abberley kept up the good work and scored again with a well-deserved goal from Jenny. Abberley had chances to go further into the lead but fortune and fitness were against us. The final score was 3-2. it was a close game but a fair result as Abberley probably had more posession and attacking play.
