1st XV v Moor Par k(away) 31-17

Today we were playing two teams of similar strength in Moor Park and St Richard’s. We therefore split the 1st XV and 2nd XV and produced two ‘A’ XV’s. It was a good opportunity to see the younger and less experienced players play along side 1st XV players. The exercise worked well and two competitive matches resulted. The weakened forward pack against Moor Park were made to work hard for the ball and it was the backs who provided the incisive running to keep us going forward. Matt S proved too strong and was replaced but Max and Ed P were dominant in attack and defence. A Moore made some powerful runs and Dan G and F redddie produced a confident display on the wing and full back. In the forwards W Merison belied his size to leave his mark on the game.

Colts C v Moor Park Colts B 27-0 (away) 10-44

'Team play pays dividends for Colts C'

On a lovely mild Autumn afternoon, the Colts C took to the playing fields of Moor Park and put on a fine display of rugby. With Nick H. in the pack along with Max W. we were quicker to the breakdown and consequently rucked the ball more efficiently. We also had speed in the backs with Jack S. in the centres and Aidan C. storming through from full back. Edward H. was our turbo-charged left winger and when we caught the ball he was off like a fire-cracker. We enjoyed plently of possession and son the Moor Park try line was being threatened. Otto W. played well and came close to scoring but it was our elusive fly-half, Thomas Wh. who scampered to touch down. The conversion being successful meant we were 7-0 up. Aidan C., from full back ran with pace and strength and after scoring a well taken try we had to rest him.

Also Jack S. was too powerful and he too came off after scoring a fine try. In the second half our replacements did us proud, notably James G. who took the ball on and made it available. Nick H. deservedly got on the score sheet. He harried the opposition all afternoon as did our Captain Oliver H. who once again played with determination. Matty R. scored our last try; a typical scrum half effort from the base of a 5 metre scrum.
What a day; great effort from all players, lovely setting, welcoming hosts and a superb tea. A day to savour!
