Colts A v Bromsgrove (away) 47-5
After conceding a try in the second minute the colts worked more cohesively to put pressure on a game Bromsgrove side. The fluency of ball from forwards to backs made good territory gains and tries soon followed. In the second half our forwards took tighter control and the result reflected our dominance. Well done!
Colts B v Bromsgrove (away) 5-20
It was a case of back to reality with a bump for the Colts B, as they capitulated against a well oiled under10A side. This was an extremely frustrating match for spectators to watch as Abberley routinely gave away precious possesion to an equally generous Bromsgrove side. Poor rucking and some diabolical desicions cost us dear, in a game where we really should have competed a lot better than we did. At half time we were only 5-0 down, and a try after the break should have got us motivated, but instead we just went for a stroll in the park! The try was scored from a scrum under pressure on their 5m line, Strong pressure from Ed, Chris and Aidan resulted in a scramble under the posts and a try that could have been awarded to all 3 of them! There was some dogged determination but simply not enough basic skills, and the better side won fairly and squarely.
Colts C v Bromsgrove
Lost......heavily!
'Colts C blitzed by Bromsgrove'
The opposition were big, strong and fast. Colts C could not handle the Bromsgrove runners and soon we were regrouping beneath our posts awaiting the conversion attempt. The Bromsgrove pack won most scrums and their backs were speedy and elusive. Jack.S , on loan from the B team, managed a number of attacks but lacked support. Our try line was under threat during the entire match; regrouping beneath the posts only paused the flow of tries momentarily. Under such a barrage, it was commendable that our team kept trying but the inevitable mustering on our try was becoming wearisome. This was not a game of ebb and flow; this was a one-way highway for the Bromsgrove try-scoring express!
The boys drowned their sorrows in chips and orange squash; the coach needed something slightly stronger!
Onward and upward! Let us valiant be and put the past firmly in its place and square up to next challenge! Tomorrow, will be our day, RDW |
