U13A v The Elms 0-2

As soon as the whistle blew the U13 match was fast paced and intense.
Once again Abberley had to work hard in defence and were inspired by impressive performances form Annie and Holly. Jenny and Olivia B worked hard in the centrre but were unable to get the ball past the Elms'
midfield to provide sufficient chances in our attacking D.

At half time the score was 0 - 0 and Abberley knew that more hard work was ahead of them. The Elms had the majority of the posession in the second half. However, for 15 minutes Abberley were able to deny the Elms of a goal. With just 5 minutes to go the Elms scored with an unstoppable hit and rebound from a long corner. After all their hard work Abberley began to panic and feel the pressure from a more competitive and physically stronger team.

Despite a fabulous moment of attacking play involving Immy, Jenny and Natasha, the final score was 0 - 2. A special mention must go to Elsie who made numerous brilliant saves much to the delight of the watching crowd. Hopefully the girls will be able to take something from the Elms'
superior drive and determination.

Under 9's v The Elms

Everybody was very excited about the first match away at The Elms. All the girls were keen and ready to show their new skills, having worked very hard in training since the beginning of term. Emily had first push back to Alex and so began a very exciting match. Isla and Emily attacked well throughout the first half, with Elizabeth playing well on left wing and receiving some lovely passes from Emily. This gave the girls the space on the wing to take the ball forward. Freya backed up nicely on the right behind Isla. Alex demonstrated good thoughtful play moving forward in the centre but ready to drop back when the opposition mounted an attack, Francesca made some excellent tackles in defence along with some very good clearances from Lili in goal. Isla scored a super goal and this was followed by a near miss too. Just before half time, The Elms managed to equalise.

After half time, Olivia swapped in for Isla and Storm for Freya. Both Olivia and Storm worked hard in their positions too. With 5 minutes to go Emily saw the opportunity to make a break and took the ball down the centre of the pitch and scored a lovely goal. The game continued to be very fast and exciting up to the final whistle. We had a lot of excellent support for the whole match, and a very noisy end when the rugby teams came over and joined in the cheering! Thankyou to everyone.

It was an excellent start for all the girls – very well done in deed.
