U13A v Bromsgrove (away) 0-2
The Under 13s A Team have made a very promising start to the season. Despite loosing 0-2 they played with skill and determination; making Bromsgrove work hard for their win. It was great for the girls to experience 11-a-side hockey (many for the first time) and to play on a state of the art astroturf pitch. Captain Jenny lead by example putting in many a tackle and using her impressive stick skills to drive play forward. Annie, Holly and Gabrielle all played well in defence and made some vital clearances out of the D. Elsie also showed great composure in goal and had to make several saves. Regardless of a loss the girls have shown great potential and with more hard work in training and improved confidence we look forward to a positive season.
U13B (7-a-side) v Bromsgrove 0-2
In similar fashion to the A's, Abberley's U13B's made Bromsgrove work hard for their win, keeping the game to a tight 0-0 at half-time. Teya in goal and Rosalind at sweeper both gave stellar performances, repulsing a strong counter-attacking side on numerous occasions. Once our midfield begins to think a little more defensively we will establish a firmer platform from which to attack, and this is an exciting prospect.
U11B v Bromsgrove 1-4
The U11B team had a very good start to the season. We won the toss so the girls chose which way they wanted to shoot first. The first half proved both challenging and exciting for the girls and they all played extremely well. Melissa played very well in defence and made it difficult for Bromsgrove to score. At half time the score was 2-1 to Bromsgrove. The second half was just as challenging but the girls were really trying hard. Unfortunately, Bromsgrove managed to score 2 more goals which meant the final result was 4-1 to Bromsgrove. A very promising start for the girls. |
