All the enamellers climbed into the minibus with Mrs Vicenzotti and Anja Potze. Mrs Potze judged our competition and arranged our prize, to visit Deakin and Francis.
We started the day by driving to the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. As we entered the factory, we were led into the Board Room. There were two huge show cases with a considerable amount of beautiful things in them, made over the past two hundred years. After that, we moved on to the workshops where rings and other products were made. Henry, one of the owners, showed us how signate rings were beaten into shape and the stages they go through before you buy them. They still make them in the same way as they did two hundred years ago. We then moved on to the place where they stamp the rings. |
