Glorious weather always seems to be with us for this annual event and this year the sun shone but the wind blew unfortunately meaning the abseiling from the Clock Tower had to be abandoned. The shooting was held up for a while as there was a power cut in the area. The lack of light may not have affected everyone’s scores! With power restored Mrs Plant and Henry won the competition with the new rifles that they had provided. Whilst the 1st X1 played cricket against Clifton School from Durban in South Africa, an array of sports took place around the grounds where parents competed with and against their children in a fun packed afternoon.
The sports included were rounders, U9 cricket, Colts cricket against their Mums, senior cricket, tennis, badminton, croquet, shooting, archery, and the gruelling Rowing Machine Challenge where parents rowed 1000m and children rowed 500m. Mr Davies and Harry, and Mrs Wood and Barney all performed impressively to win this event.
The greatest entertainment of the day is arguably the ‘Egg Challenge’ where contraptions are designed and built to propel an egg as far as possible. Huge distances were achieved with gasps of astonishment form the crowd. Mr Lole narrowly beat Mr Free and Mr Hill to win this popular event.
