Optional Weekend - 26/27 April

The first optional of the Summer Term occurred over the weekend of 26-27th April. 49 children were entertained and enjoyed the light of the evening outside on Saturday before tuck shop and a film. Mr.Abbott took a merry band off to the Forest of Dean for his infamous camping and kayaking trip. They had a great adventure as usual and were all first to sleep on Sunday evening back in their dorms.

Sunday saw a coach group head to the Black Country Museum. This was a first for the optional team. The children were treated to a tour of a coalmine, a trip on a boat into a cavern and a victorian schoolroom not to mention fish and chips for lunch.

A minibus headed to New Road in Worcester for a one day cricket match between Worcester and Somerset. First stop though was ten pin bowling where Harry won the child competition and Mr.Kay somehow won the battle of the adults. The weather forecast was poor but the game started on time. However the rain was soon upon us. After a delay of an hour and a half, the sun came out and 39 overs were bowled. Worcester struggled but we were still able to admire the general play on show. The rain came again and the game was abandoned. However some children could not wait to play when they returned to school though my leg-breaks were unplayable in the nets after tea !
