Optional Weekend - 6/7 February

Another action packed weekend began after matches with the usual fun and games in the Ashton. Bouncy castle, a Wii, swingball and softball tennis used up energy while the younger girls danced away to music blasting through the PA system. Go Alina !

The evening saw ice cream and films for some and 11 children chose to go to watch Worcester Wolves v Plymouth Raiders basketball match at the university. The Wolves triumphed 84-80 and we were once again wowed by the skill and athleticism of the players who signed autographs afterwards. The two American star players from the Wolves are coming to coach in PE on monday . That could be amazing.

Sunday saw the usual monster breakfast before the 2 minbuses headed the short distance to Kidderminster. The children (and adults) marvelled at the engines in steam at the station and then travelled behind one of them up the line to Highley. We spent a lovely hour in The Engine House, a recently opened visitor centre. Star of the show was 4930 Hagley Hall, sister engine to the scrapped 4981 Abberley Hall whose nameplate we have hanging over the dining room entrance at school. To see this big and powerful engine up close was a real treat.

We returned to Kidderminster eating lunch on the way, spotting the elephants as we passed the safari park.

The buses then headed for Birmingham to Cadbury World. The queues were a bit boring but the chocolate was so good and after a raucous play on the terrific adventure playground, it was back to school just in time for tea at six. The eating was not over because chef had very kindly made a huge chocolate birthday cake for me to celebrate my milestone coming of age . Some begged for only a small piece but others still had the stomach for a chunkier bit.

The older girls had a less busy day choosing to relax at school in the morning before going to Pizza Hut for a long and copious lunch. Afterwards they went to the cinema to see St.Trinian's 2 learning more tricks to keep Mrs. Channing on her toes !
