CE pupils Geography Fieldwork in Stourport

The Common Entrance forms visited Stourport for their Geography Fieldwork. The pupils were in groups of six and each group took responsibility for collecting data from their location. The pupils had to undertake a pedestrian count as we are studying the Central Business District of Stourport. Pupils also had to find out what shops and services were in their street and this Land Use survey will provide useful information for their projects. The groups also had to perform a Frontage Index where they had to measure the width of a shop and then the width of the display windows. We are hoping that the shops with wider display windows will be in the CBD. Finally the groups had to decide on the Shopping environment by grading the shops in their street according to set criteria. All the groups worked efficiently and they collected masses of data. Their next task will be to present this information in the form of graphs, tables and diagrams. The Fieldwork project is worth 20% of their CE mark and is sent to their next school.
