The first optional weekend kicked off in grand style with 5 different outings entertaining 50 children.
On Saturday 9 boys went camping with Mr.Abbott to the Forest of Dean. On Sunday they went mountain biking as well on the forest trails.
The remainder had a Saturday evening outing to Forest Glades Swimming pool which we had hired exclusively for an hour. Much fun was had on the two slides and the floats in the main pool.
An early start saw 14 children journey to Wimbledon for the Davis Cup tennis. They had a grand day out and saw Andy Murray in full swing. They were also complimented on their behaviour by a member of the public on no.1 court. Shame about the staff !
A later start and fuelled by full english breakfasts a group went to Clifton College in Bristol for African dancing and Bristol Zoo. There were worrying reports of an escaped gorilla but it was later identified as Mr. Tooby eating a banana !!
The little ones had a 3 stop strategy. Firstly they went on a steam train from Toddington to Cheltenham and back hauled by "City of Truro", the first steam loco ever to go 100 mph back in 1904. After a picnic and a play in the playground, it was off to Evesham and the Wacky Warehouse for soft play chases and slides. Then it was on to Worcester for 10 pin bowling. Well done to Archie and Toby who were the top scorers. Exhausting ! I'm off for a lie down. |
