"King Juan Carlos: The Rebel King"

A group of forty pupils from both the top year and the 5's and 100's listened to a lively and informative talk about the current King of Spain, Juan Carlos. Mr Marshall dealt skilfully with Spain's complicated political history in the twentieth century and kept all the children fully engaged, employing colourful slides and well targeted questions to good effect. No one was left in any doubt about the skill and courage employed by the young Juan Carlos in his relationship with General Franco, and the impressive speed with which he modernised Spain after Franco's death in 1975. As with all good talks, we all felt as though we had learned a great deal - even our resident Spaniards!
