We are pleased to announce that the Fiction Library, after its temporary sojourn in the back Day Room, has now been reunited even more closely with the reference section in a new site near the centre of the school.
It is hard to imagine that this room was still the Science Lab until last term. It has been transformed into an attractive and comfortable room where children can enjoy relaxing in the cosy reading area, listening to tapes and CDs and browsing the educational and sporting periodicals. The library has been time-tabled into English lessons now so that it may be used more efficiently and become familiar and welcoming to even the most reluctant reader.
What makes the library so very special is the beautiful oak furniture made by Jo Summers for the past three years. The leavers have generously contributed towards the purchase of the round table and interesting stools, the hexagonal bookcase and the delightfully eccentric reception desk, all carved with their names. We would like to thank Jo and all our leavers who have given us such a unique library.
