At Abberley we have an open approach to ICT and our extensive facilities are available to children at all times. The ICT room is a hive of activity during free time with children actively encouraged to make creative use of the computers.

A safe learning environment

All pupils are provided with internet access and a school email account, which are both filtered to provide protection. Access is monitored to ensure that profitable and educational use is being made of this facility.

Developing Competence

All pupils have a one-hour lesson of ICT each week. We largely follow the National Curriculum guidelines for ICT but attempt to enrich this by encouraging pupils to consider the wider implications of the use of ICT, to build real ICT capability as well as developing the skills needed to use ICT successfully in other curriculum areas.

Cross Curricular

The staff as a whole is committed to using ICT within the various subject areas. Many classrooms now have interactive whiteboards and each classroom has a networked PC. Much use is made of our new purpose-built
